From a special theatre project bringing six extraordinary women from the world of mythology to life, to an art exhibition featuring works by three local female artists inspired by the natural environment... there are many events taking place this weekend to celebrate International Women's Day.

The Jersey Arts Centre will host a special production to mark International Women's Day this Friday and Saturday.
'Six Heroines', directed by Daniel Austin, is a series of six monologues that portray powerful women from ancient mythology.
Local female actors will perform mini-plays with a modern twist on classic stories, highlighting female characters often ignored in traditional mythological tales.
Inspired by the Roman poet Ovid's 'The Heroines,' these monologues bring to life queens, sorcerers, pioneers, poets, and politicians from 2,000 years ago.
The performances will be held on Friday and Saturday from 20:00, and tickets cost £15.

Private & Public Gallery is reopening tonight with an exhibition titled 'Cosmos' to celebrate International Women’s Day, featuring works by three local female artists inspired by the natural environment.
Sponsored by Rathbones, the exhibition explores the universe and its order, drawing on the ancient Greek concept of 'Kosmos' as both a complex system and a symbol of adornment and decoration.
The artists showcased include Hazel Wynn, a Jersey-born artist known for her vibrant and emotionally resonant paintings inspired by nature; Rups Stewart, a British artist exploring marine life and coastal landscapes through two-dimensional and three-dimensional responses; and Francesca Warner, whose work captures the essence of nature and life in its various cycles, reflecting her background in complementary health practices.
Private & Public Gallery has been closed since September while the director toured European museums, art fairs, and galleries.

Deputies Raluca Kovacs, Inna Gardiner, and Louise Doublet will host a pop-up stand at Grand Marché St Helier from 12:00 to 15:00 today.
Islanders are invited to share their experiences with gender, and suggest initiatives for the States Assembly to pursue.
All are welcome to attend, and a suggestions box will be available for those who prefer written submissions.
A performance by multi-disciplinary artists Robert James Anderson and Donovan Delis-McCarthy about technology in the modern world will be held at Capital House on Friday and Saturday.
The immersive performance is called 'Touchscreen', and was produced by ArtHouse Jersey and Ballet d'Jerri.
The event is set to explore the profound impacts of our high-speed, globally-connected, and often isolating modern lifestyle.
The show contains adult themes and may feature nudity, making it suitable only for individuals aged 16 and above.
Doors open at 19:45, with the performance starting at 20:00.

ArtHouse Jersey is hosting a pop-up exhibition at Greve de Lecq Barracks featuring artists Wendy Jenkins and Christine Pemberton this weekend.
Wendy Jenkins, a self-taught painter and therapeutic arts practitioner, explores the vibrancy and fragility of life in her exhibition titled 'A Time for Everything,' inspired by a biblical poem.
Christine Pemberton presents 'Here and Now,' capturing snapshots from her walks at Greve de Lecq for six weeks in January and February.

This Saturday, the island's musical community will host a free event at the Radisson Blu Hotel to allow children to explore different musical instruments, aiming to spark interest and excitement about learning an instrument.
It is being organised by musical instrument company Yamaha in collaboration with Island Music, the Jersey Music Service, and the Jersey Academy of Music.
Big Band workshops will be available for advanced students from the Jersey Music Service and Jersey Academy of Music, along with two public performances featuring the Big Band and Yamaha artists.
The event will be held on Saturday 9 March from 11:30 to 16:00.
