ART FIX: It's Battle weekend!

Friday 09 August 2024

In case you hadn't heard... Battle of Flowers 2024 is finally here!

Every weekend, Express presents a selection of exhibitions, performances, workshops, events and other historic, creative and delicious content to help islanders get their weekly dose of culture.

Here's this week's offering...

Battle 2024

On Friday 9 and Saturday 10 August, a flurry of flowers and fun will descend onto Victoria Avenue after months of work from volunteers.

Eurovision sensation Sam Ryder will be joining the Grand Day Parade for a full-length concert on Lower Park on Friday to get things off to a flying start and tribute act UK Queen will showcase all the best hits to close the Moonlight Parade on Saturday.

Plus, back this year after a successful show in 2023, the Notting Hill carnival mas band, Flagz, will return on their own float for a bit of feathered flavour.

Gates open at 14:00 for a selection of DJs, food stalls and live entertainment before the show gets under-way.

Various road closures and diversions will be in place, which you can find out about here.

Coronation Park Concerts

Back for its fourth year, six evenings of music will be featured at Coronation Park next week as part of the popular Concert Series.

From rock to jazz, country to musicals, there is something for everyone in this year's line-up.

Local artists, bands, dancers and DJs will be bringing life and sound to the park from Tuesday 13 - Sunday 18 August.

Marti Pellow

Finishing Battle weekend off this year is a special concert on Lower Park.
