The Premier Inn Hotel on Bath Street had to be fully evacuated last night following reports of smoke on the second floor of the building.
Two fire engines and firefighters responded to the incident, which occurred shortly after midnight on Friday 22 November.
In a statement shared on social media, the Fire and Rescue Service said: “A room on the second floor was quickly identified as being the main cause for concern.
"Once access had been gained it was quickly established that there wasn’t a fire in this room, although the smoke did originate from it."
The Fire Service explained that smoke had spread into the corridor outside the room when the occupant left.
Crews ventilated the area, allowing guests to safely return to their rooms.
The cause of the smoke is currently under investigation.
States of Jersey Police and Ambulance Service also attended the scene as a precautionary measure, but were not required to take action.
