A Jersey musician has said he is "so grateful" to have been chosen as the supporting act for the first-ever Sunday Battle of Flowers concert.

Josh Hearmon (26) will be playing ahead of Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow on Sunday 11 August, as part of a collaboration between the Battle and Jersey Opera House.

Mr Hearmon, organisers said, is influenced by R&B, soul, hip-hop and reggae, bringing "a fresh and dynamic energy" to the show.

His debut EP, 'Over Again', comes out on Friday 19 July.

Mr Hearmon said: ""It’s an incredible feeling to have been given this opportunity by Marti and the Opera House.

"I’m so grateful to have been chosen as the special guest for August’s show. It’s such a great thing to see big acts come over to Jersey and, through the Opera House, look to promote local musicians at their shows."

The show represents the first time Battle of Flowers will host a Sunday concert.

Andy Eagle, Theatre Director of the Jersey Opera House, added: "With the addition of Josh Hearmon, the evening promises to be even more memorable.

"We can't wait to see Marti and Josh light up the stage!"

Held at the same premises at Lower Park, tickets are being sold separately from tickets to the Grand Parade, held on Friday 9 August, and the Moonlight Parade, held on Saturday 10 August. Friday's headline act is Eurovision star Sam Ryder.
