Police are warning islanders not to let a cold caller claiming to be from Jersey Electricity into their homes.
In a Facebook post, the Force warned: “We’ve had a report of a man claiming to be from the JEC cold-calling at an address without a uniform or an ID and driving a small white unmarked van.
“Always check ID and credentials of any tradesmen visiting your home and if you’re not expecting a visit, check with the company before allowing anyone access."
They continued: “If you are visited by a person you suspect is not who they say they are, please report this to us.”
Jersey Electricity added on Twitter that all of their engineers “use marked vehicles, wear uniform and will present ID.”
States of Jersey Police warn of a man claiming to be from JEC cold-calling on homes in a plain white van and offering no ID. Please be aware that all our engineers use marked vehicles, wear uniform and will present ID. Report anyone suspicious to the Police.
