Bienvenue at the Alliance Française

Saturday 02 September 2017

The Alliance Française is opening its doors at 10:00 this morning for coffee, croissant and a little introduction.

The Alliance team will be present to meet visitors and introduce them to their activities.

The Teaching team, which comprises native French speakers,  will carry out free assessment tests to anyone who is considering taking up French. They will also give free demo lessons, one for children at 11:00 and one for adults at 12:00, so that potential students can get a test of the Alliance teaching methods.

Visitors will also be able to discover the building, located in the old Jersey Library on 5 Library Place, discover the equipment and browse the Alliance library and its selection of French CDs, DVDs, books and magazines.

Registration forms for all the Alliance classes will also be available. From children to professionals, all levels are covered with different teaching formulas, including one-to-one and intensive sessions.

Starting from Monday the Alliance will welcome 'Objectif Sport,'a photography exhibition collecting winning pictures on the theme of sport. The pictures, were taken by photographers throughout the world, as part of the Fondation Alliance Française international photography competition. The winning promise to take the visitor "on a singular journey, from street football in Calcutta to women wrestling in Kathmandu."

206 entries were received from 103 Alliances Françaises from 50 different countries and judged by a panel including news and magazines editors as well as professionals from the photography industry. The winning shot was taken by Dar’ya Shara from the Alliance in Buenos Aires. She explained that through her pictures she tried to shine a light on those who give their lives to sport, driven by their passion, their will, a desire to outdo themselves and the love of their country, field and relatives who support them.

The exhibition is free and open until the 31 October.
