Deputy Lyndon Farnham has been appointed as Jersey's next Chief Minister.
Deputy Farnham secured 27 votes to Deputy Ian Gorst's 22 votes – after Deputy Sam Mézec was voted out for receiving the fewest votes in the first round.
The vote was triggered by last week's vote of no confidence in Deputy Kristina Moore.
Three candidates stood to replace her: Deputies Ian Gorst, Lyndon Farnham and Sam Mézec.
But it was Deputy Farnham who won the most support.
A former senator, he was first elected as Deputy of St Saviour No. 2 and sworn to office on 9 December 1999, making him one of the most experienced States Members on this list.
Under the previous Government he was Economic Development Minister, the title currently held by Deputy Moore's Deputy Chief Minister, Kirsten Morel.
In his speech and subsequent hour of questions with States Members, he spoke about the importance of change.
"The Assembly voted for change, and a change must be delivered – not just a Cabinet reshuffle," said Deputy Farnham.
He also outlined the housing crisis, standards in Health, and Government communications as his key priorities.
The former Deputy Chief Minister concluded his speech by promising a "more unified" Council of Ministers, and a Government that is "transparent, accountable and responsible for the needs of our community".
When he was announced as Chief Minsiter designate, Deputy Farnham said: “I want to reiterate my door is open to all members in relation to forming a Government to take the Assembly forward."
