Islanders are now able to buy their bus tickets in advance using the LibertyBus app in a move the company says will "revolutionise" bus travel in Jersey.
The mobile ticketing feature allows passengers to purchase and download tickets before getting on the bus, where they will be able to scan a QR code as they board.
The app, which was introduced last year by LibertyBus and transport technology firm UrbanThings, has been downloaded more than 20,000 times in the last 10 months.
It supports the purchase of single tickets, transfer tickets, day tickets, multi-day visitor passes and other types, as well as showing live bus positions and additional information.
In a statement, the company said the change was "revolutionising bus travel on the island".
LibertyBus Director Kevin Hart added: "It’s great to move to the next stage of development with our app and make catching the bus even easier as you can buy your tickets in advance making boarding times even quicker."

Mr Hart continued: "You can also buy a ticket for someone and gift it to them, so if you have a member of your family with their mobile phone but no funds to pay for the trip you can buy the ticket from the comfort of your own home and send it straight to their mobile phone."
Managing Director for Tower Transit UK – the Adelaide-based transport group that owns LibertyBus – Samuel Ribeiro said: “We are excited to continue to invest in LibertyBus, making things better for everyone in Jersey – whether you are a resident or just visiting.
"With this new app feature we are simplifying ticket buying and speeding up boarding. Embracing the digital transformation aligns with Digital Jersey's goals. For us, it is more than just transportation; it's about being an active part of the Jersey community.”
Guy Sutherland, Head of Bids & Partnerships at UrbanThings, added: "We are thrilled about introducing smart ticketing in the LibertyBus to further simplify travel for bus passengers in Jersey.
"The growing adoption of the app is promising and we’re looking forward to continuing its development in the future to delight customers with a streamlined travel experience."
The LibertyBus app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
