Celebrity chef to lend emergency Valentine's support

Island hearts are being given a helping hand this Valentine’s Day, thanks to a local chef, a hearty meal in a hamper, and a 'call-a-cook' helpline - all the ingredients for a romantic meal for two.

Shaun Rankin and the Don Street Deli team have prepared hampers filled with a starter, main course and dessert for two, which Islanders can enjoy in the comfort of their own homes.

Meat eaters can enjoy a Beef Wellington Hamper, while vegetarians can treat their other halves to a mushroom version. Both come with a salad starter, and a Chocolate Tart with salted caramel and popcorn to round the meal off.

There's also an option to accompany the food with an aromatic cocktail, with the Valentine's Cocktail package including a bottle of champagne, and the elusive 'Cupid's Cordial' - a mix of Passionfruit Liqueur, Strawberry and Chilli.

Should the kitchen pressure become too much however, the Don Street team will be available via an email helpline.

Shaun Rankin described the hampers as, "...a great opportunity for people to experience cooking for themselves."

"It doesn’t matter if you aren’t an experienced cook because myself and the Ormer team will be opening a helpline to assist you every step of the way. Just follow the instructions in your hamper, send us your questions and we will make sure that your Valentine’s meal is cooked to perfection."

"This Valentine’s we want to make sure that everyone is catered for. If you can’t get a babysitter or if you just want a cosy night in, then our Home Dining Hampers are the perfect solution. Each one has been designed with all you need to enjoy Michelin dining from comfort of your own home," he added.
