Car blaze closes Avenue

Victoria Avenue had to be closed for around half-an-hour early this morning while firefighters dealt with a car on fire.

Shortly before 06:00, Police advised: “We are currently assisting Fire Service with a vehicle fire on the 6th layby of Victoria Avenue.

“Victoria Avenue is currently closed in both directions between Spur Road and Rue du Galet. 

“Please avoid the area at this time.”

However, by 06:40, they had advised that the fire was out and that the Avenue had reopened.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. Express has contacted the Emergency Services for comment and is awaiting a reply.
