Moonlight walk for a sparkling cause

Thursday 08 June 2017

Islanders will tonight walk miles under the Island’s glittering skies as annual Hospice fundraiser The Moonlight Walk returns for its ninth year.

Started by four friends to finance a fundraising trek challenge, the walk received such support the starlit walk is still going strong into 2017.

Fundraisers set off from St Brelade's Parish Hall at 21:00, for a five or 10-mile hike, featuring music-a-plenty and illuminated fancy dress – the brighter the better.

Facepainters will adorn the registration booth with local band Run for Cover providing the tunes to set them off on their merry way.

“The event is always a really memorable evening , people walk for all different reasons, some in memory of a loved one or just getting together with friends to have a fun evening out whilst raising money for a worthwhile cause,” one of the organisers commented.

In nine years, walkers have raised a sparkling sum of over £133,000, which has helped fund the work of Jersey Hospice. This year, profits will be shared with disability service Cheshire Home.

Registration and all the walk details can be found on here. For more information, get in touch with Yvonne Maguire (07797 774749) or Sarah Corbel on (07797 711560).
