Express would like to clarify the wording of a character witness statement given by St Clement Constable, Len Norman, in the recent sentencing of Lucille Monks.
In our report of that case we said: "(Defence Advocate) also read a series of letters of references, including one from St. Clement's Constable Len Norman that complimented Mrs Monks for her involvement in the parish and her "helpful, easygoing and friendly nature."
That sentence should have been written:
"(Defence Advocate) also read a series of letters of references (including one from St. Clement's Constable Len Norman) that complimented Mrs Monks for her involvement in the parish and her 'helpful, easygoing and friendly nature.'"
Express is happy to make it absolutely clear that Senator Norman's own reference said, "I found her to be a loyal and enthusiastic officer," and it was one of the other character references mentioned which contained the phrase a "helpful, easygoing and friendly nature."
