Condor passengers hit by more strikes

Saturday 09 December 2017

Another strike by French port staff in St. Malo has hit Condor passengers for the second weekend in a row.

The ferry firm has been allowed to carry passengers and their vehicles to France, but the stevedores have said they will not allow passengers to travel to the Islands from the French port.

Paul Luxon, Condor’s CEO, said, "We are dismayed that the action taken by the stevedores at short notice is, once again, affecting the travel of our passengers and we share their abject disappointment. Condor is resolved to mitigating, as best it can, the impact this is having on islanders’ travel plans."

"Our customer-facing teams are contacting just under 1,000 people to offer them a full refund or reschedule their sailing. Those who opt to travel south to St Malo are being advised that there is a risk that their return travel may be affected by further disruption later in the week."

Mr Luxon added, "We are also asking any passenger who choose to travel this weekend to keep a close eye on our website and their mobile phone for updates on any further changes."

Last week industrial action hit between 2,000 and 3,000 passengers.
