More than £14,000 of confiscated criminal cash is to be used to purchase laptops for the honorary police.
Treasury Minister Ian Gorst has signed a Ministerial decision to allocate £14,160 from the Criminal Offences Confiscation Fund for the new devices, which will be used by parish Centeniers.
The application to withdraw money from the fund was made by the Law Officers' Department and the Attorney General.
A report published as part of the Ministerial Decision says: "Centeniers bring defendants before the Magistrate's Court in a wide range of cases. Document and information management is a key success factor in the judicial system for secure, systematic and efficient case management.
"As part of work to digitise case management processes within the honorary police, Centeniers require laptops that will enable live access to the prosecution service's secure centralised electronic case management platform. The devices will allow existing paper-based processes to be modernised, leading to more efficient case management and improved information security."

They added: "There are no ongoing or recurring costs. There will be no licence fees payable by parishes for access to the centralised platform. Laptop devices will have a warranty of three years. Replacement costs are anticipated as being met by respective parishes."
