Students returning from holidays in Tenerife have been sent home from school, while Jersey health officials are working to track down any islanders currently on holiday in the island who may be among the hundreds on lockdown in a hotel hit by coronavirus.
CI Travel Group offers package holidays to the affected H10 Costa Adeje Palace.
A government spokesperson said that the government did not “know for sure” whether anyone from Jersey was staying there, but that officials were trying to contact all islanders currently in Tenerife where there have been four confirmed cases of the flu-like illness.

In a statement issued yesterday afternoon, CI Travel Group said that it had a total of 200 FlyDirect clients currently in Tenerife and that it was managing their queries.
The holiday provider added: “We are liaising with the Deputy Medical Officer for Health, Dr Ivan Muscat, and taking his advice regarding clients who have recently returned from Tenerife as well as those due to travel.”
The group also confirmed that it had no intentions to cancel its FlyDirect programme, which offers weekly direct flights to Tenerife from Jersey, as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s advice for the Canary Islands had not changed in light of the coronavirus cases.
Meanwhile, De La Salle School emailed parents this morning to explain that a number of students, who were in Tenerife over the half-term have been urged to self-isolate for the next 14 days.

The school is now undergoing a "deep clean regime focusing on areas where those students spent time," Head of College Jason Turner advised.
He continued: "This has been completed, but we will continue to review this regime. In addition we are going to take precautionary measures, principally to reassure students and ensure that good hygiene regimes are being followed.
"Therefore, staff will be issued with hand sanitizer and after each occasion when the boys have had a break we will ask students to use this before going into a classroom. (We would obviously prefer boys to wash their hands if they have been to the toilets- but I have decided to adopt a pragmatic approach to reinforce the good hygiene message). Boys will also be asked to sanitize their hands before going into the canteen or the lunch room."
The college head added that a number of boys had come into school wearing face masks, but noted that De La Salle did not encourage this.
"While I appreciate that they would prefer to be at school, I would ask that if your son has a cold that he remain at home rather than wear a face mask at school," he said.
There are now more than 80,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus worldwide.
Sufferers of coronavirus are reported to suffer fever, coughs and breathing difficulties.
Following news of the cases in Tenerife, Health officials issued updated advice to those travelling back from the largest of the Canary Islands:
The advice came as Iran was added to the ‘Category 1’ list of coronavirus-hit locations, while those travelling back from more than a dozen regions in Northern Italy were asked to self-isolate:
