Guernsey’s water company is investigating a potential data protection breach after CCTV footage of two people having sex at an island reservoir ended up being leaked onto social media.
The potential breach has been reported to the Data Protection Authority, since the video was recorded via CCTV footage at a Guernsey Water-managed site.
Guernsey Water is responsible for the St. Saviour's Reservoir, the Millennium Walk and the impounding dam itself. The site is under 24-hour surveillance.
“We are taking this incident very seriously,” said Guernsey Water's Managing Director, Steve Langlois.
“We have reported the incident to Guernsey Police and to the Data Protection Authority, and will be assisting them in any further investigations.
“We are also carrying out our own internal investigation, which is already underway.”
