Jersey’s Dean, the Very Reverend Bob Key, is to step down at the end of February next year.
States Members were informed this week that he will be taking up a new role with the ‘Archbishops’ Evangelism Task Group’, as part of a national initiative called “Thy Kingdom Come 2017.”
He’ll also be working with the Bishop of Bath and Wells on a “…new strategy for mission and evangelism.”
The Deputy Bailiff, Tim Le Cocq, commented:
“Although we will miss him in this Assembly, I know members will want to join with me and the Bailiff in congratulating the Dean on these new appointments. Fuller tributes will be made nearer the time.”
The Dean was appointed on the 6th October, 2005 and has been a controversial figure in recent years, being suspended and later re-instated over his handling of a complaint from a parishioner.
