Did you see a man chased down and assaulted with a baseball bat near the hospital?

The police are appealing for witnesses after a man was chased and assaulted with a baseball bat at around 11.20 pm on Monday.

The victim was not seriously injured, but the police are seeking witnesses, and they say that there were quite a few people in the area of the hospital and The Parade where the incident took place.

A police press appeal to the assault said: “The incident occurred at approximately 11.20 pm.

“The male responsible was wearing a light coloured t-shirt and dark coloured tracksuit bottoms.

“A male has been arrested and is currently helping Police with their enquiries.

“In particular, Police would like to speak with two males who were walking along the pavement and moved aside for the males to pass them.”
