Members of Reform Jersey have adopted a new party constitution – which creates the role of Deputy Leader – "designed to pave the party's way toward Government".
Those in attendance at the latest annual general meeting also voted to re-elect their party leader and all executive roles.
Deputy Sam Mézec therefore retains his position as the leader of Reform Jersey – a social-democratic political party with ten elected members in the States Assembly – and the new Deputy Leader will be elected in the coming weeks.
Deputy Mézec said he was "delighted to have been re-elected as leader by our members, and to receive their confidence in the work we have done to firmly set Reform Jersey on the path to Government."

He continued: "As the only organised, unified, and cohesive block in the States Assembly, we have demonstrated the kind of leadership that the public expect from a Government-in-waiting.
"We will continue to push for our manifesto policies to be implemented by the States, as we have successfully managed to do on many issues in the last year."
Other changes included in the constitution are enabling the party leader to appoint members to spokesperson positions, potentially including ministerial candidates in future, and introducing a new complaints process by revamping the 'Party Executive Committee' (to replace the previous Management Committee).
