Do you want to improve your art?

Tuesday 28 October 2014

It’s not just musicians who have the chance this year of auditioning to win a year's coaching and the chance to collaborate with other artists.

The Bedell Creative Arts Programme is a year-long opportunity for local artists over 16 who will be mentored on their craft and get to work with other creative Islanders on larger group projects.

Jersey Arts Trust’s Director Tom Dingle said: “We would like to appeal to as broad range of people as possible - as long as your work is original and it’s yours, we want to hear from you. We have no pre-conceived ideas about who we are looking for at this stage so there is no right or wrong way of doing this – we just want to learn about you.

“The final pieces may be conventional or experimental, the whole group may work together or people might work in pairs or small groups and we welcome people who just want to create as well as those who might also like to perform their own work.”

All composers, song-writers, filmmakers, multi-media artists, dancers, choreographers, performance artists, writers, designers, directors, and visual artists who make their own work can go along and audition on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December.

Artists have until Monday 24 November to send in three examples of their work and their application to Jersey Arts Trust, First Floor, 3 Charles Street, St Helier, JE2 4SF or by email to alice@arts.je

The final shared pieces of work will be showcased at the “Original Works Concert” next August at Jersey Opera House.

Five local composers were picked from over 40 applicants to take part in the last programme and got to collaborate with dancers, choreographers, filmmakers, other musicians and multimedia artists.
