Battle week zooms into action on the Waterfront today when 28 teams will be pedalling their way round the new car park for charity.
Local businesses and charities are competing in the third Lions Club of Jersey Pedal Car Grand Prix that gets underway at 10.30am at the Les Jardins car park.
Each team is made up of a manager and five 'drivers' who will pedal one lap in a relay around the circuit specially designed by members of Jersey's Classic and Vintage Motor Racing Club. They'll pedal as fast as they can in the hope of making it into the semi-finals and ultimately the grand final when there are trophies and medals up for grabs for the best placed corporate team and the best placed team from a charity, club or association.
Organiser Lion Peter Tabb said: “Since we supply the cars and the safety equipment, there will still be an opportunity for up to four scratch teams to join us on the day. Each race will, as in previous years involve four teams of five ‘drivers’ pedalling one lap each.”
The event is sponsored by ABN AMRO Bank and racing will start once the course has been laid out by members of the Classic and Vintage Motor Racing Club of Jersey.
