Deputy Jeremy Maçon has been removed as Children and Education Minister, the Chief Minister has announced.
It comes little more than a month after the Deputy was officially appointed to the Ministerial role.
In a statement released this evening, the Chief Minister said that he had “decided that Deputy Macon is not currently capable of fulfilling his Ministerial duties.”
He explained that he “has removed these duties from the Deputy and will be holding the portfolio of Children and Education until further notice.”
“To respect the privacy of all individuals concerned, no further details will be shared at this stage,” he added.
It is understood that the Deputy has been arrested. Police said in response to a request for comment: "A 33-year-old man was arrested on 24 March at a private address. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue."
They said that they could not release further details when a charge has not been brought.
