Esplanade works mean diversions for islanders attending hospital

Wednesday 19 October 2022

The Government will be carrying out highway maintenance on the eastbound carriageway of the Esplanade this October half-term.

The road and Victoria Avenue will remain open during the work, which will take place from 22 to 30 October, with a contraflow to ensure there are two lanes for each direction.

Signed diversions will also be in place, which will be especially important for those with a appointment at the General Hospital.

Those approaching from the east will need to use Castle Street to get to Patriotic Street Car Park, while those coming from the west will need to use Cheapside/Gloucester Street to access Kensington Place/Patriotic Street.

The Government apologise for the inconvenience caused, explaining that the work is much needed as some sections were last improved more than 20 years ago.

More details on diversions and working times can be found on gov.je/roadworks.
