A former Hautlieu student in his 30s will take over as headteacher of the school in September.
Nick Falle has been appointed as the new head of the school, and will succeed Lesley Toms who is retiring this summer after 39 years in teaching.
Mr Falle (39), who has been acting head of the school since September 2012, is Jersey-born and was educated at Hautlieu, St Michael’s, Victoria College, Trinity and All Saints Leeds University and Keele University. He has been working at Hautlieu since 2005.
He said: “It is a particular honour and privilege to be able to work at a school that did so much for me and had an important role in my own life. It is also a privilege to serve with such a vibrant and talented group of students and staff.”
Hautlieu’s position as a selective school has been under scrutiny, with a review about the unusual structure of Jersey’s education service expected to be published in the coming months.
Robert Perchard, Chair of the Hautlieu Board of Governors, said: “We were able to choose from a strong field and are delighted to be able to offer the job to Mr Falle. He has a strong vision for the school, great conviction and clear commitment to teaching and learning. I look forward to working with him.”
Director of Education Mario Lundy, who is also due to retire shortly added: “Mr Falle’s appointment is a testament to the leadership ethos that has been developed at Hautlieu and the strong teamwork at the school. I would like to congratulate him on his appointment and wish him every success in the role.”
