A former English teacher at Victoria College has traded the classroom for a career in writing with the release of her debut novel that was 15 years in the making.
Born and educated in Jersey, Marianne Adams graduated from the University of Exeter before going on to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and working in the UK.
But, as she admits, the draw of island life with its beaches and coastal paths was too strong and she later found herself back in the place she grew up teaching at Victoria College, where she became Head of English.
However, after 16 years, she decided to make a change – resulting in the publication of her first ever novel, 'A Lesson in Perfection'.
"I have always dreamed of being a writer, but it took a huge leap of faith to actually change my life and commit to publishing this novel," Ms Adams explained.

The romantic comedy draws on her own time working in Jersey and the UK, follows the story of Samantha Sheffield, a teacher in her late 20s navigating personal and professional challenges – from complications with her secretive fiancé to an impending Ofsted inspection.
"Having worked in the teaching industry for 16 years, I have always felt that teaching provides a rich world for comedy and intrigue, which is why my debut novel follows the life of a young teacher," she said.
Since publishing the story, which is now available for purchase on Amazon, she says she has been happy with the response.
"I am so pleased I took the risk," she said, adding: "I'm grateful to all my early readers who are so supportive in their feedback and reviews."
Ms Adams had initially planned for 'A Lesson in Perfection' to be a standalone novel, but she admits she has became attached to the characters.
So, could another novel be on the cards?
"I have already mapped out and started working on the plot for the next two books!"
