Female race for Deputy

Two women are in the running for Deputy of St Peter.

Debbie Hardisty has confirmed she’ll be standing in next month’s elections, up against Deputy Kristina Moore who is looking for re-election in the parish.

55 year-old Debbie wants to see GST removed from essential foods and domestic fuels and free milk back on the menu in pre-schools and the Island’s primaries.

Debbie who was educated in the parish at Les Quennevais School works at the Channel Islands Cooperative Society and has experience working within both the Finance and Care sectors.

She also spent three years as an Honorary Police Officer for St Helier.

The mum-of-three says she’s particularly keen to help those on low and fixed incomes and wants to radically improve the advance-to-work scheme so that more people are taken on for long term, sustainable employment instead of being taken on for “cheap, temporary labour”.

39 year-old Deputy Moore has recently returned to the States after battling breast cancer.
