More than 4,200 lightning strikes hit Jersey in last night's thunderstorm.
After a humid day, with temperatures reaching 28.1 degrees at the Maison St. Louis Observatory, islanders were put on alert for a significant thunderstorm from 23:00 last night.

The first cracks came around midnight, with no let-up for several hours.
As well as lightning strikes, heavy rain continued to fall throughout the night, pausing for a while after 04:00 before resuming before 06:00.
