Firefighters warning as two more cars overturn in accidents

Monday 29 June 2015

Drivers and passengers were taken to hospital after firefighters and police dealt with two overturned cars out west overnight on Saturday.

They were called to one overturned car at 9.37 pm on Saturday night on Le Marquanderie Hill, and another a few hours later at 3 am on a country lane near La Haule.

In both cases, the drivers and passengers managed to get out of the vehicles without being cut out by firefighters. They were treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

The police are investigating both accidents.

Jersey Fire and Rescue Service Watch Commander Richard Ryan said: “The number of road traffic collisions that Jerseys emergency services are attending is becoming very alarming.

“The Fire and Rescue Service in June alone have attended a total of 25 crashes already and the recent Annual Report presented by the Chief Fire Officer shows a worrying upward trend and significant increase in recent years in Road Traffic Collision incidents.”
