Local artists have transformed the walls of the Beresford Fish Market with sea-themed art murals.
Seven artists were invited to create the murals, which aim to liven up the market walls for islanders to enjoy, and showcase the work of local creatives in a thriving area.
The crop of creatives selected for the project included collage artist Eliza Reine, graphic designer and illustrator Gabriella Street, as well as mixed-media artists Louise London, Francesca Monticelli and Kirsty Garcia.

Street artist Ben Robertson (BOKRA) - the artist behind the Colomberie mural - also took part decorating not one but three panels, featuring his well known style, complete with bright colours and different shapes.
All contributed their free time to create sea-themed murals.
Louise painted a series of mackerels, Francesca, a goldfish while Gabriella created a colourful underwater scene complete with corals and marine plants.

Kirsty played with colour, letting different shades of blue, greys and white drip onto the wall to give the impression of an underwater snapshot.
Eliza's mural - created on a wooden panel - features another one of her ethereal collages, showing a woman swimming in a sea of clouds in different shades of blue and surrounded by delicate and colourful details.
“She is encircled by different plants you can find in the bottom of the sea,” Elīza said.

“Luckily they are quite colourful which is great. These details I think give quite a lot of formality as I like to say to my artwork.”
“We’re really thankful to the market for giving us this opportunity and we’re all pleased with the outcome of this project," the artist added.
"It’s great to receive the opportunity to work on something like this which doesn’t come up that often, so it’s exciting to practice a new skill by creating work for this particular environment.”

Simone Glendewar, the Markets Manager, said the project was a great opportunity to brighten up the walls of the market.
"The artists have each taken to the challenge in a different way so we have a great variety of artistic styles on show. We are proud to be showing the work of these local artists which will be seen by many islanders who use the market and we hope the public enjoy them.”
