Dandara have stepped in to sponsor the Jersey Film Festival just a week before the event was due to start.
The developer’s funding will make sure that the free six-night event takes place this year, and organiser Kevin Lewis says that he is delighted at the news.
The free event kicks off on Saturday evening in Howard Davis Park, and Deputy Lewis – who serves as the Island’s Transport Minister in his day job – said that he could not wait to get started.
“I’m very glad that it’s all sorted out and we’re very grateful to Dandara for stepping in,” he said.
“We are up and running and we have our film listing. Obviously there are lots of good events out there all chasing sponsorship so we are delighted that they have decided to support us.”
This year is the 20th anniversary of the Jersey Film Festival which attracts thousands of locals and visitors every summer.
The line-up for the Film Festival is: Ghost (9 August), Sister Act (10 August), Armageddon (11 August), Blazing Saddles (12 August), Grease (13 August) and Peter Pan (14 August).
Films start at 8.30 pm and admission is free, with a retiring collection for Jersey Hospice.
