A local Church group is on a mission to fill a container full of donations to send out to people living in one of the poorest countries in the world.

Freedom Church are on the hunt for supplies so that they can build a pharmacy and well in the African city of Bobo Dioulosso in Burkina Faso – giving locals access to medicines and clean drinking water.

They plan to begin building in November but need materials like scaffolding, cement mixers and other tools so that they can get started – things they can’t get hold of in Africa.

They also want washing machines and fridges to help people set up their own small businesses so that they can make their own money to support their families.

And they need books to fill a library and clothing and toys for families living the area.

The Church bought land in the city at the beginning of last year and committed to spend the next decade developing it. They also plan to build a primary and secondary school, paediatric centre, technical college, medical centre, office block and a small guesthouse.

The Church will be holding an auction in October to help raise funds for the building project.

It has already raised more than £40,000 in the last seven years to fund a number of projects in the country, building classrooms, playgrounds, teaching English, building and stocking a local shop and a community centre.

It also sponsors 150 African children, ensuring they are educated and have access to medicines when they need them, many of whom would have died of malaria without its help.

The container will be shipped out at the end of September and the Church want to hear from anyone who has any of the building materials or general supplies they need, which they will come and collect.
