Freemasons present £100,000 to 17 local charities

Monday 30 October 2017

Jersey Freemasons have raised over £100,000 for 17 local charities as part of their Annual Charity Appeal and the Freemasonry’s 300th anniversary celebrations.

Each charity received £6,000 at a ceremony held at the Masonic Temple this weekend.

Representatives from all 17 charities attended the presentation at the Masonic Temple to receive their donations from the Provincial Grand Master of Jersey, Kenneth Rondel.

The 17 charities are: Autism Jersey, Brighter Futures,  Caring Cooks Jersey, Channel Islands Air Search, Family Nursing & Home Care Headway Jersey, Jersey Asthma & Respiratory Association, Jersey Hospice Care, Jersey Mencap, Jersey Scout Association, JSPCA, NSPCC, Parkinsons, Jersey Samaritans, The Stroke Association, Victims Support Unit, Words and Numbers Matter.

Kenneth Rondel, Provincial Grand Master of Jersey, said: "2017 marks the 300th anniversary of our Grand Lodge and has been a year of celebration marked by festive events and unprecedented publicity. I am immensely proud that Jersey Freemasons have, through fundraising activities and individual donations, raised this record amount for the benefit of the 17 chosen charities. This magnificent figure is in addition to the £50,000 recently awarded by the Masonic Charitable Foundation to four local charities and is an apt finale to this momentous year.”

In September, Jersey Freemasons distributed £50,000 between the Stroke Association, Jersey Hospice Care, Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey and Jersey Cheshire Home to mark Freemasonry's 300th anniversary celebrations.
