Swimmers have dived into Jersey's longest running charity event, the Swimarathon, in a bid to raise thousands for Jersey's food banks.
Now in its 51st year, the Lions Club Swimarathon has raised more than £3.6million for charity since it began in 1972.
This year's event, sponsored by Ravenscroft, will see 2,500 swimmers hoping to raise money for the island's food banks, with proceeds to be donated to The Grace Trust, The Salvation Army and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
The first swimmers were set off by the Lieutenant Governor his Excellency Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd CBE (pictured top).
This year's Swimarathon is taking place at Les Quennevais school and will run until 12 March.
