Express has gone behind the scenes at the hospital to watch staff processing the first batch of covid-19 tests in Jersey.
Officially launched today, the new facility allows tests to be analysed with a "rapid technique", returning results within 24 hours.
Health staff worked overnight to get the facility up and running in the hospital's Infection and Molecular Sciences Laboratory after the kit finally arrived following delays.

Testing will initially prioritise patients who need to be admitted to hospital for treatment, followed by health workers themselves.
