A 21-year-old man has pleaded guilty to nine counts of malicious damage after he ‘tagged’ several properties in the Havre des Pas and Green Street area earlier this year.
Conor Robert Hughes this morning appeared before Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris via video link where he admitted the offences.
Advocate Julian Gollop, representing Hughes, indicated his client’s ‘guilty’ pleas to all nine charges – eight of which took place overnight on 25 April, and one on 19 February.
Reading the charges, prosecutor Advocate Chris Baglin indicated that the spate of graffiti targeted “various premises in and around Havre des Pas”.
A statement released by the Police say that the force “received numerous reports on the morning of 26 April from residents in the Havre des Pas Gardens area, that bright pink graffiti had been sprayed onto their houses and some garage doors.”

Hughes was reportedly identified after Police reviewed CCTV footage from the area.
Following his entering ‘guilty’ pleas, the Assistant Magistrate asked that the Probation Service compile a background report to aid the Court when sentencing the young man later on in the summer.
Hughes was placed on conditional bail and told his case will come back to Court on 8 July.
Before dismissing him, Assistant Magistrate Harris warned: “You should not be committing damage either in your near locality, nor anywhere else. Make sure you keep out of trouble as you have since the night in April.”
