A St Helier resident was treated by paramedics this morning following a fire believed to be caused by "unattended cooking" at a property in Halkett Place.
The alarm was raised at around 09:00 on Monday 14 October when members of the public heard an alarm and saw smoke coming from an upstairs window of the property close to St Helier Methodist Church.
Two fire engines attended the scene, with a third on stand-by.
A total of 15 firefighters were involved, while on-call staff provided cover.
After being unable to access the building via the front door, the fire crews entered via a ladder and first-floor window.
They discovered a small kitchen fire which was subsequently put out.
Posting on social media, the fire service said it was believed "unattended cooking" had caused the fire, and that the resident had been escorted from the property before being treated at the scene by paramedics.
A spokesperson said: "We would like to thank the members of the public who called 999 when they heard the alarm and saw smoke."
Halkett Place was closed for most of the morning before reopening at around midday.
