A "very handsome young Muscovy duck" is getting help to seek out a new pad in Jersey – after making "unwelcome advances towards chickens" in his previous home.
Derek is 10 months old and "very tame", as he was raised as a pet from around eight weeks old.
However, as he matured, he began taking a liking to some chickens, so it was felt that a place where he could be amongst his own kind would be more appropriate.
Helping out the grey and white feathered chap with the new property search is the JSPCA.
"As Derek hasn't lived with other ducks before, we are looking for an owner that would be prepared to gently introduce him to his new flock," they said.
And the JSPCA say he isn't tricky to please as a housemate – all he needs are head scratches, good food to keep him happy.
If you would be interested then please give us a call on 01531724331 or pop into the JSPCA's reception and fill in a paper form.
More information about Derek can be found here.
