It's a little bit funny... Hundreds of likes for Head's goodbye video

Tuesday 23 July 2024

A lip-synced goodbye video for a local headteacher has spurred an island-wide flurry of reaction and well-wishes.

As she moves on from Les Quennevais school after 26 years – including 13 as headteacher – it is clear Sarah Hague is going to be missed.

To mark her exit, a video of Mrs Hague's former colleagues dancing and lip-syncing to Elton John's 'Your Song' was posted on the school's social media.

The compilation has received hundreds of likes and comments in just a few days.

The school's goodbye post read: "Today marks the end of an era for Les Quennevais School as we say goodbye and good luck to Mrs Hague who has given Les Quennevais over 26 years of service, 13 of which as our esteemed leader and utterly devoted headteacher.

"The Les Quennevais School community cannot thank you enough Mrs Hague for what you have given to every student, parent and member of staff you have come into contact with. We are all better off for having had you in our lives!

"Your impact has been immense and your legacy is well and truly cemented. You are leaving on the ultimate high and could not be handing over a better school, for which we are all eternally grateful.

"Good luck Mrs Hague and keep dancing to 'Your Song'!"

Some of those commenting on the video included former students of the school.

One wrote: "Thank you for everything you have done Mrs Hague.

"Les Quennevais is such a wonderful school and we have been very lucky to have you as headteacher."

Another said: "This made me so emotional. Mrs. Hague was one of my teachers, it’s so lovely to see some of my other teachers are still there!

"Such a lovely reminder of the best years of my life."

Mrs Hague is set to take up post as Head at St George's Preparatory School in September.
