Very heavy rain – which has caused flooding in some parts of the island and led to road closures – is expected to continue through the night and into the morning, according to Jersey Met.
The island's forecasters measured 24.7mm (or one inch) of rainfall in an hour at Howard Davis Farm, in Trinity, and 11mm of rainfall at the Maison Saint Louis Observatory in St Saviour.
Some islanders reported that their personal monitoring devices recorded even higher rainfall figures, at 30mm or more in an hour.

The forecasters said they "anticipate it continuing" through the night and into the morning, with the rain's intensity described as "on and off" throughout the night.
Weather that has moved to be above Guernsey could return to Jersey, they added.

Some roads are currently closed, they added, with authorities working to keep islanders safe.

Meanwhile, organisers of the Jersey Cancer Relief Half Marathon - due to take place in the morning of Sunday 8 September - have said they will make a decision in the morning after assessing the condition of the roads.
