Shops advised to 'crack' down on egg sales

Tuesday 30 October 2018

Keen bakers under 16 could face difficulties in getting their hands on crucial ingredients, as shops are being urged to restrict sales of eggs and flour to youngsters in a bid to 'crack' down on Halloween pranks.

With the annual spooky holiday known for sparking juvenile practical jokes, the Honorary Police are advising shops to "consider their community" when it comes to letting teens buy such ingredients.

It is hoped that this will help stop them from throwing eggs and flour at buildings or people.

They have now designed and are circulating a poster they hope shops will display.

It reads: "We will not sell EGGS OR FLOUR to anyone under the age of 16."

It adds that "proof of age may be required" when purchasing the items, and asks islanders not to be "offended if you are asked."
