600 attend Andium home buy event

Andium homes has described open days to talk about ways of helping islanders to buy their first home as a "great success" with more than 600 people going along.

The events, which took place in the main hall at St. Paul's Centre, were organised by the company to promote the Andium Homebuy scheme and highlight sites being developed for affordable purchase.

Deputy Anne Pryke, Minister for Housing, who attended the event last Saturday, said: “Helping people to become home owners is an important objective for the States of Jersey and the Andium Homebuy scheme is one way we are helping people to achieve their aspirations. The open days highlighted that there is a lot of interest amongst local people to step onto the property ladder and, with Andium building 300 new affordable homes by 2020, we hope to make this a reality for as many of them as possible.”

Andium says that the high attendance demonstrates that demand remains very high, with the majority of those attending being in a position to buy now.

Ian Gallichan, Chief Executive at Andium Homes, said, “The open days were a huge success and I’m sure we will be holding more of them in the future. Our Homebuy scheme and development plans were very well received. There was a real buzz in the room and it was a great opportunity for people to meet with us and learn about the opportunities we can offer”.
