Hundreds of 'Cash-dash-ians' compete for daily cash prizes

Thursday 24 September 2015

A competition which saw people racing, scrambling and even delving fully clothed into pools on their lunch breaks in search of a windfall has helped to raise over £600 for charity.

Hundreds took part in the second big Qi Finance Cash dash – cracking the clues and racing off to find the stash of cash hidden around the Island every day for two weeks.

Here's Milly Atkinson in action who was one of the lucky winners who scooped a grand after wading through Victoria Pool.

She said: “I can’t believe it’s happened; it’s such a shock. I’m going to save it up and spend it on travelling I think. I never thought I’d actually win it.

She said: “I thought it could have been at Harve des Pas or the fountain but I came down here first. I’m now on my way to visit my Gran in the old people’s home all wet like this!”

Over 250 ‘cash-dash-ians’ flocked to Liberation Square last Friday in search of the winning key to unlock seven prize chests on the final day of the competition.

Nerina Poole was thrilled to have finally won £600 of the £1000 up for grabs in the Square to put towards her holiday.

She said: “I’ve played six times this year whenever I could work out where the clues were. The money will go towards my holiday with friends next week!”

Qi Group’s Marketing Director Kimberley Joshua said: “It has been amazing to see so many Islanders getting involved in Qi Finance Cash Dash this year.  We’ve been racing to keep up with the participants who appeared within minutes of releasing the clue each day. Even our followers on social media were cheering along.

“We can’t thank people enough for their participation and enthusiasm come rain or shine.  They brought the event to life and the best part of the competition was seeing how the cash made a difference to each individual winner and our chosen charity.  We hope the event has highlighted our philosophy at Qi Finance to provide a friendly and flexible approach to finance solutions.  We feel we have a responsibility to provide approachable finance solutions that reward responsible borrowing.”

Every time a Cash Dash t-shirt was worn or a plastic fish or animal was found on a Cash Dash, the total was recorded and donated to RNLI Jersey. At the grand finale Qi Finance doubled the fundraising total and presented a cheque to the charity.
