It seems some concerned islanders thought migrants had found an innovative way to try and get into Jersey today, when they saw a group of people getting out a hire car which had got stuck in the sand at Le Braye.
The Police were swiftly called to investigate, and they have now published their findings: while the last few days may have been highly strenuous for the group, it was not because they had just completed an arduous journey to Jersey.
They were simply visitors who had come to the island to compete in this weekend's Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon, and had presumably taken a tour of the island to help relax their aching limbs before heading to the airport to catch their flight home - when they unfortunately got their car stuck in the sand at the end of the slip.

An islander had filmed the group getting out of the car with their suitcases and posted it online - the post has since been removed.
With speculation mounting on social media, the Police promptly moved to set the record straight with a tweet:
