An inquest has been opened into the sudden death of a 40-year-old basketball player and coach.
Guillaume Pierre Hoareau was playing in a Jersey versus Guernsey match at Fort Regent on 18 May when he suffered a suspected heart attack.
The match was called off after Mr Hoareau collapsed on the pitch, and spectators were asked to leave.
Paramedics took the basketball player to hospital but he died shortly after arrival.

After opening the inquest this morning, Assistant Coroner Cyril Whelan adjourned proceedings to allow for further investigations.
He ruled that Mr Hoareau’s body could be released for cremation.
In a statement following Mr Hoareau’s death, the Jersey Basketball Association called him a “pivotal part” of the basketball community and an “inspiration and mentor to both our senior and junior players”.
