Islanders are invited to an annual cider festival later this month that is designed to celebrate and preserve part of Jersey’s cultural heritage.
Jersey Heritage is set to host ‘La Faîs’sie d’Cidre’ at Hamptonne Country Life Museum on 19 and 20 October.
The two-day event, sponsored by Ogier, will offer a mix of live music, food, entertainment, and hands-on cider-making activities.
Festivalgoers will also be able to sample last year’s cider and watch as volunteers and horses work together to press 160 sacks of apples to make cider for next year’s festival.
Nicky Lucas, Jersey Heritage’s community events curator, said: “La Faîs’sie d’Cidre brings together the community, volunteers and apple and cider experts to create a unique Jersey experience in the beautiful surroundings of Hamptonne.”
Kate Kirk, Ogier's Marketing Director, added: “La Faîs’sie d’Cidre not only celebrates a rich part of Jersey history, but it turns the tradition into an experience that everyone can be a part of, which keeps Jersey's traditions alive.”
The event will run from 10:00 to 17:00 on both 19 and 20 October, while apple pressings will take place daily from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00.
Parking is limited at Hamptonne and festivalgoers are encouraged to catch the free ‘Apple Bus’ from Liberation Square in St Helier.
Standard entry fees to Hamptonne apply, with free entry for Jersey Heritage Members and children under six.
