From doing 100 burpees a day, to running 500 km – five islanders are completing creative exercise challenges to support a local mental health charity.
Adam Burt, Sarah Tambling, Paula Volante, Claudia Williams and Cameron Elliot are raising awareness of mental health by putting their "endurance to the test" and encouraging other islanders to do the same.
Sarah, Paula and Claudia were first to complete their challenge, completing 100 burpees every day for the month of April.
The trio nominated individuals to take part in their challenge through social media and raised over £1,400 for Mind Jersey.

Sarah, who came up with the idea for the challenge, said: “Mental health should be a priority at this time because of all this change and uncertainty coupled with loss of loved ones and jobs.
“I am so pleased I did this challenge with Claudia and Paula as it has been great to connect with them every day.”

Adam Burt is now over halfway through his challenge, running 500 km in 30 days. Raising awareness of mental health is particularly important to him.
“The Corona virus poses challenges to each and every one of us in the community and having lost someone close to me through suicide, I wanted to do something to support Mind Jersey and the vital work that they do for our community,” he said.
Adam intends to run a daily target of 16 km, reflecting the average of 16 suicides that occur each day in the UK.

Personal trainer, Cameron Elliot, is urging other islanders to get active with his ‘accountability challenge’ starting 11 May.
He hopes to keep people motivated, fit and mentally healthy during lockdown with guided sessions on the Facebook group Jersey Health & Fitness Community.
Cameron said: “I’m hoping this challenge will offer hundreds of people the focus they need, along with a super supportive online community.”

He will split the proceeds of his challenge between Mind Jersey and Silkworth Charity group.
Executive Director of Mind, James Le Feurve, said: “It is so encouraging to see so many people recognising the importance of maintaining good mental health at this difficult time. Keeping active is a great way to combat feelings of stress, anxiety or depression.
“We really appreciate the efforts of these individuals and wish them every success in their challenges and hope that the community will support them and give generously.”
