Islanders are being warned about a new scam where fraudsters pose as a popular parcel delivery service in order to steal personal information.
Police and Cyber Security officials have urged those who receive a message purportedly from delivery service Evri to refrain from clicking the link or sharing their details.
Islanders should instead scrutinise the message for errors to determine its legitimacy.
A statement from Jersey Cyber Security Centre, and shared on police social media, explained that mistakes in word spacing ("yourpackage" and "operationcentre"), grammar ("ship in" instead of "ship on"), and unexpected URLs are all giveaways that the message is not genuine.
JCSC said: "We've been made aware that fraudsters are targeting people in Jersey by posing as Evri and getting in contact with about a fictional parcel."
The statement continued: "If you receive this message, do not follow the link and do not share your information.
"This is likely a 'smishing' attack, which is designed to convince you to share personal information."
Islanders who have been caught out by the scam are advised to report it to police on 01534 612612 or online HERE.
Already this year, there have been a range of other 'brushing', 'phishing' and 'spoofing' scams which have seen islanders and local businesses lose thousands.
