The Principal of Jersey College for Girls has written to parents denying rumours the secondary school had "installed cat litter trays" in its toilets for students to use.
Carl Howarth opened the letter by stating: "I really cannot believe I am writing this email but here we go..."
The letter was sent to JCG parents via email on the evening of Tuesday 24 April.
It comes after rumours have been circulating regarding students at the school wishing to identify as felines – although the letter does not clarify the source of this speculation.

The full letter reads: "Dear Parents, I really cannot believe I am writing this email but here we go...
"We have been aware for some time of rumours that we have installed cat litter trays in our toilets.
"We had thought that, as it was so clearly nonsense and utterly ludicrous, these rumours would naturally stop without our involvement.
"However, rather bizarrely that doesn't seem to be the case. Please correct anybody who may talk to you about it."
Mr Howarth concludes the letter by saying: "Right, back to reality..."
Similar rumours have also been spreading about schools across the UK, with most cities and regions having their own variation of it.
