Regulator investigates hour-long phone outage

Tuesday 01 November 2022

An hour-long phone outage in September is being investigated by the competition watchdog.

The Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority has announced that has opened ‘a case’ into the ‘service incident’, which took place in the early hours of Tuesday 20 September, when certain mobile and fixed calls were affected for 57 minutes, across telecoms operators.

The JCRA will open a case when it has ‘reasonable cause’ to suspect that that provisions set out in the island’s telecommunications law may have been broken.

“The performance and reliability of Jersey’s telecommunication services is critical to the Authority and, therefore, the Authority is giving consideration to the next appropriate action(s),” it said in a statement.
