With Halloween coming up, you may have started to feel something strange in your neighbourhood. Express knew just who to call.
Lucky for the island, the Jersey Ghostbusters are set to crush the creepy ghosts and ghouls roaming Jersey's roads this weekend, starting at 'Boo at the Zoo' and then hitting the Zombie Walk. They'll then be on-call at the Fire Service's open day before sweeping the spooks off the town streets on Halloween itself.
But inbetween prepping their proton packs, the team put their minds to other ways they could help Jersey - and came up with five ideas...
Bullying can happen at any age to anyone. It can destroy a life and the lives of those around both the survivor and the bully. People really need to take this seriously and be aware and more conscious of it.

We need to tackle the underlying issues and not just the outcome. We would recommend better education in seeing early warning signs for all ages.
We all know that getting away from this island can be expensive, but just imagine if your child had a life-threatening illness with the only option of treatment being overseas.

We believe this should be free no matter what your financial circumstances are.
We loved going to Fort Regent as a child, teenager and as young adults. We need to take our Fort back and give her a re-boot...

She could be an arena of excellence. As she stands tired and unloved, we are missing out on so much potential. We need an arena that is accessible to all and Fort Regent could be glorious again.
Living on an island with treacherous rip tides, we need to educate our children to be able to swim and give first aid. We need to educate them about the dangers of the sea.

Basic life-saving courses should be available in all schools. Teaching children basic first aid (age appropriate) should also be made a priority.
This is a subject most people won't talk about or aren’t aware of. We have a great number of young carers on the island. They are in need of our support and the government need to take more action. These children are trying to get an education, look after siblings and possibly suffering in silence. They take on this role because there is no other option. Their parent/s may be incapacitated for many reasons. However, because they don't know who to go to for help, the child has to take on the adult role looking after the family unit.

We all need to be aware, educated and compassionate. Aren't we all responsible? We need to start talking about these issues and then do something about it.
